Can you clean a painted roof?

The short answer is yes. The long answer is as follows:

When moss is removed from a painted roof, it very often removes some of the paint with it, especially if it has been allowed to grow for some time. This is not the cleaners error. This will happen as the moss sticks to the coating and then leaves as it is removed. So what can you do about it?

  1. Remove the moss via a gentle deep clean

  2. Treat the roof with a biocide product which will kill any remaining spores and carry on protecting the roof from regrowth for some time.

  3. When completely clean, have a roof paint respray . This can be in a number of different colours. Always use a reputable company and ask for references of their work. Last thing you want at this point is to employ someone who will not complete the job efficiently.

  4. sit back and look at your amazing roof!

We know that this can be a costly exercise, however if your roof is in need of some TLC and is looking worse for wear then it can be a good investment. This will certainly increase the value of your property in the long term. No-one really wants to take on a property with a patchy painted roof!
