🧽

1. Keeps the Building Looking Fresh

  • Over time, dirt, algae, moss, and pollution build up on the #render.

  • Cleaning removes these stains, restoring the wall’s original color and finish.

  • This improves the overall appearance and curb appeal of the property.

🧱

2. Prevents Damage and Decay

  • Organic growth (like algae, moss, or lichen) can trap moisture in the render.

  • Moisture leads to cracks, weakening, or even render detachment.

  • Regular cleaning helps the surface dry properly, extending its lifespan.

💧

3. Maintains Breathability

  • Many modern renders (like silicone or mineral render) are designed to “breathe.”

  • Dirt buildup or biological growth can clog the pores, trapping moisture underneath.

  • Cleaning keeps the surface breathable and prevents damp problems inside the wall.

☀️

4. Protects Against Staining and Discoloration

  • Pollution, bird droppings, or rainwater can cause long-term staining.

  • Periodic cleaning prevents permanent discoloration, especially on light-colored renders.

🛠️

5. Saves Money on Repairs

  • A well-maintained render doesn’t crack, peel, or need early replacement.

  • Regular gentle cleaning (every 1–2 years) costs far less than full re-rendering.

🏠

6. Increases Property Value

  • Clean, well-maintained walls make a strong impression on buyers,

How should you clean your render?

Example Process for Cleaning Render

This should always be a gentle procedure. Render should be treated carefully. We let the professional biocides we use complete the main process of the work. It may take a few applications to bring your render up to as clean as we like it. So it’s not a fast process. But the results speak for themselves

  1. Pre-rinse with low-pressure water to remove dirt and debris.

  2. Apply biocidal cleaner (follow manufacturer’s dilution).

  3. Allow dwell time (15 min–1 hour, or longer for organic growth).

  4. Lightly agitate with a soft brush if needed.

  5. Rinse gently with clean water.

  6. Allow to dry and repeat for heavy staining.

cleaning your render (the outer coating on your house walls) isn’t just about looks — it’s actually important for protecting the structure and lifespan of your home.

Here’s why you should clean your render 👇

🧱 1.

Prevent damage from algae, moss, and mould

  • Over time, moisture and shade cause green algae, moss, or black mould to grow on render (especially on north-facing walls).

  • These organisms hold moisture against the surface, which:

    • Leads to staining and discolouration

    • Causes the render to weaken or crack

    • In cold weather, trapped water can freeze and expand, damaging the render layer

✅ Cleaning removes this buildup and prevents long-term decay.

🌧️ 2.

Keeps it breathable and weather-resistant

Render is designed to breathe — letting trapped moisture escape from the wall.

If it’s coated in dirt, algae, or pollution:

  • Pores in the surface can clog,

  • Leading to reduced breathability and a higher risk of damp and cracking.

Regular gentle cleaning helps maintain the render’s natural performance.

🎨 3.

Improves appearance

  • Render can look tired, patchy, or greenish from organic growth and pollution.

  • Cleaning restores the original colour and texture, often making a huge difference — especially for white or light-coloured renders.

🧼 4.

Extends lifespan

Dirt, salts, and biological growth slowly degrade the surface of render.

Keeping it clean can add years to its life before needing repainting or re-rendering — saving money in the long run.

⚠️ 5.

Prevents permanent staining

If left too long, algae and mould can etch into the surface, leaving permanent marks that even pressure washing won’t remove. Early cleaning prevents that.
